I only own several Morgans, none of which I think are nice as type example, you know, the sort where you would look at it and say "Hmm, nice coin!." I felt I needed to decide between a PL one and something with colorful toning, but it's hard for me to ascertain how a colorful coin will look in hand vs. some internet photo (where I do most of my shopping).
So, I decided on PL. actually, DMPL. and with a CC cachet too. Do you like? comments welcome as always.

Graded MS64 at PCGS. (the low angle lighting needed to produce the cameo effect tends to exaggerate the light marks in the luster. I consistently undergrade these myself, based on photos)

Hmm, nice coin! :D A CC and a DMPL how can't you like it. I would grade it a 63.

Thanks, and I meant to invite others to GTG, too. I'll post the grade before I go to bed tonight.

Nice MS 63 Morgan CC.....is it in the GSA unc holder? I have had several of these in my collecting years.....sadly most have had heavy bag marks! Thinking how many years did these unc.dollars get moved in their bags ......one place to another. don't you wished they rolled them in those days ? Can you imagaine the tonning and coins we would have to pick from? How many can see the difference in the silver of CC minted Morgans to any other ? As they all were struck from the comstock mine ore. ....some of the best silver ever to leave the ground.IMHO

Some intriguing thoughts, Paddy. It's not in a GSA holder, it's PCGS. Interestingly, the first coins out of the CC mint, the 1870 CC seated liberty dollars, were not made from ore from the Comstock lode.

Beautiful coin, I hope you didn't pay over $235.00 for it.....How much did you pay?

BTW- I see alot of people here post their new purchases, old purchases, etc....which is great, but please post the price you paid for it too.

I get depressed when I see all these awesome coins bought , but once someone posts the price they paid, I feel like a human again, knowing you paid crazy money for the coin......thanks..

Why do you say that? What grade would you give it? The last 62DMPL on HA sold for $253, a 63DMPL goes for around $300 and a 64 around $400.

Very nice surfaces on that coin, I've always liked the 82, 83, 84 CC morgans as they are fairly easy to come by and at such good prices usually.
