I found this in a 5000 Bag of Wheats. I don't have an explanation. It just looks as though the S has sprouted a Wing!! What opinions do y'all have?

Very interesting my though was a possible RPM etc but the anomaly just doesn't have the right characteristics.I don't think its damage, possibly two die chips that are big enough to qualify for freestanding interior die breaks.

Appears to be material on top of the mint mark, so not a die chip, in my opinion. Could it be a struck through? Something that was on the planchet as it was minted.

Minor internal die break (die chip) on a very worn die. Sometimes these are called San Jose cents because the mm slightly resembles an SJ (although yours is not that good)

It is definitely not something sperate from the coin. I just can't figure how this die break or die gouge became. I also have not found evidence of other coins similar. I simply can't believe in a one only example.
I have another coin, a 1946 S that looks like sans serif repunch over the Inverted S. I will post this one tomorrow if I can.
