Hi all - I'm fairly new here, have been on other coin sites, but just started here. Thought I'd post a photo of one of my error cents. It's a 1943 steel cent with what looks like a cud on the reverse. The odd thing is the angle of the cud, almost a mirror image of the wheat strand. The obverse has signs of this cud on the L of Liberty. Unforunately, there seems to be an abundance of die polish lines on the obverse, most likely due to the die nearing the end of its life, which makes sense given the cud on the reverse. If you click on the photo, you will call up a much larger pixel'd photo.

Makes one wonder how that happened.

Beautiful '43... Interesting, I found a 2007-p (i think?) lincoln cent with a cud shaped exactly the same... It is on the bottom of the reverse however... Same sharp edges and trapezoidal shape but maybe half the length of the one in the pic... I will post it soon for comparison, but I am not home at the moment... :)

Wow, that is a very cool find. I may need to get it in hand to get a closer look though. I will pm my address so you can send it to me so I can give you a better opinion;)

The steel planchets were much harder then the copper planchets therefore you see a lot more die wear and the end results (die breaks and cuds) on steel cents. Cool piece!

    1936

Anyone care to speculate on this 1936 I found today in eBay Specials?

The Eye-Lid is Doubled as well. And, although you can't see it on these pictures and I can't get a good shot of it , under the South-West side of the B in Liberty it looks like a D mint mark.

Coppercoins doesn't have any variety that I can match it to.

Looks like 1936P-1DO-001 to me. Could be that your coin is an earlier die state that is reveiling a doubled eyelid...

I believe I saw that coin at CS at one point but I don't think it exists anymore. Nice to have you here not as a mod but as a part of us. I still like this 43er as much as the first time I saw it.
