Well Pam, once again you've managed to confuse me. Please stop doing that.
Your post is unclear about what you want. Why on earth would you "send" any coins to a local coin shop? If you are looking for an honest appraisal of a coin, take it to your local dealer and see what they say. If they seem honest and easy to deal with, then frequent them.
If you are looking to get a coin validated, there are a few sites that you can send them to and for a modest price, get them evaluated, otherwise, you will have to paid for a TPG to give you a grade.
Suggestion: Maybe have an uninterested party read your post before you post, to see if they understand what you are asking.

I trust our local Ph.D. Numismatist to piggyback our precious metal coins. He is much more reasonable and definitely more professional than I. He is also a friend.

Yes. And not that I have intentions of selling any. I guess just more or less wondering if someone in person could look at a few of the older ones. Not all Lincoln’s lol. But I will not. If I were to send anything in it would be the Morgan’s, JFKs etc. But really, no price can be put on my dad’s. Cent or Morgan. Thank you as always. I did post my state coin album I finally finished putting them in. I have others but not done. It’s on that Pam’s find thread.and again, sorry.

I don't know exactly where you are located (and don't want to know), but it seems to be SE Louisiana? I've got some personal experience in South Louisiana, you can PM me if you are interested? Hope you find what you're looking for. Kenneth

The Coins and Collectibles shop in Kenner is open, though mostly just on weekends -- I always call first. Gulf South Coins in Metairie is also open, on a more regular schedule, but again, call first -- these guys do go to coin shows sometimes. I don't think there are any coin shops in the city itself.
