I bought this based on a suggestion of another CoinTalker last Friday - just came in the mail today, here it is and here it is in it's new home with it's new pals. 1871 Proof Half Dime, Mintage 960, PCGS PR50. Relatively affordable and I'm pleased as punch to have it.
The 1876-CC Seated Dime, besides possibly being the most affordable Carson City coin, is one of the most interesting Seated Dimes to collect by variety. The newly opened Carson City Mint had moved from striking a few thousand pieces every year to striking 8.2 million in 1876. Mint workers were overworked to the extreme, and production quality suffered immensely. They definitely knew about this very strong DDO, they just didn't care, as they wouldn't waste a perfectly good die. There are three reverse dies used with the 1876-CC DDO obverse. The "low C" is the toughest of the three to find.
