Hi, guys Is this an authentic Bashlow restrike cent ? And if so ,could you share with me your opinion of its price ? Since I saw some similar coins have sold on H.A auction gets pretty high prices , so I wonder does this coin a valuable coin ? Thanks a lot
Here is an orginial restrike from the 1960's Until I can find my reference yours looks as if its a fake . The 6 is the key if I remember correctly let me find my sorce and I will confirm yes/no.
Using the op images I believe that it is fake or a fake - fake so to speak. The hair and 6 are not correct These are fakes also
100% sure and wouldn't post it as such if it wasn't....however the op isn't its a fake / fake.. nothing matches the Correct restrike.
Here's a piece I have owned for a long time. It is the bronze strike of the Bashlow Confederate cent struck from canceled copy dies.
NOT a Bashlow, but well over 50yrs old.. came from my grandfathers collection. It is however missing the period after America so pretty sure is just an old copy Is a pretty good match for the "suspect" example Paddy posted PS I really like the OPs nickel/cent
Yes mine was a bronze strike also..the tone im guessing from where it was stored. Prior to my purchased from an older member of the coin club. He still had the orginal recipt from his purchase...in the 60's. I must admit I like its color...
Here's mine in copper, for comparison sake. Cost less than $100 in the NGC slab a few years back (I was deal hunting as usual and it caught my eye when I had some money in my pocket).
I'm not near my collection but have 3 bronze, two silver, and one goldine. I will be close this weekend and will add photos of those. Several are in original envelopes.
Well, I find there are two version , copper and nickel , so I think it might nickel. Silver seems different , not sure…
I have check one more time “ bashlow restrike “ and found there are many types , gold , silver , copper, Zinc , nickel , lead … Should I sent it to NGC for identify ? Since you say seems like legit , how do you think about it ? Thanks
Send it to ANACs if you want it authenticated and or graded. They would also tell you whether it's nickel or silver without tearing a leg off.
So... asked my brother if he knew anything else about cent I posted above, since he ended up with 99% of Pepe's collection... after a long talk and some horsetrading (that cost me one of my 1787 NJ coppers) I now own a bashlow of my own
