Hounded by paparazzi, she died of injuries in Paris August 31st 1997 when the Mercedes S-280 limousine crashed into the 13th pillar of the Pont d’Alma Bridge, which traverses the River Seine. The limo was speeding to evade the press. Driver, Henri Paul and Egyptian billionaire Emad "Dodi" Fayed were killed in the crash, Diana’s British bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones was the only survivor. Diana suffered for a couple hours before dying in the hospital. They were less than two miles from the Ritz Hotel they had just left when they crashed.
She was a very special lady... more ways than one...and as a welsh man no,one could of honored the country better. A class act... and loving mum.
I totally agree. My Wife and Mother-in-law both loved her. My Mother-in-law loved her so much that she bought a Princess Diana Doll that was were given to us when she passed several years ago. I'm assuming it's worth quite a bit monetarily as well as sentimental.
It's one of only three or four similar unplanned/unscheduled times or events that I can recall exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news (I'm sure there are a couple of others that my older mind can't recall at this moment): JFK's assassination, 9-11, and this. Oh, and RFK's, also.
Princess Diana and Princess Grace both very tragic losses in much the same way. Forever young, forever loved.
