Hi everyone, I'm very new to the world of serial numbers. So when I found this $20 bill I thought it was definitely a very unique and cool serial number. However I have absolutely no idea if it actually is considered special in any way other than just looking cool. I did input the numbers into a serial number checker online and it received a 97.6% Coolness Index Score. I don't know if that really means much or not. So I was hoping someone with a lot more knowledge in this area could perhaps help me out. I would like to know if, A. Is this serial number in fact special? B. If it is considered unique does it have any value other than the face value of $20. C. Does the condition of the bill look good enough. From my perspective it is in very good shape. D. Could someone give me an idea of how much it might be worth. (Even a ruff guess) E. Where would I go to try and potentially sell it if it is worth something. I would appreciate any help or feedback as I have absolutely no idea. I have uploaded some photos. Thanks.
Hello and Welcome. This is just my limited opinion. I think it may be cool in certain circumstances, but I don't think it would fetch more than a $20. The Note is not in the best condition in terms of being folded. It's a spender in my eyes. That's just my honest opinion and I hope you continue to search those numbers. I tell my wife that all the time and once in a while you are rewarded.
The “Coolness Index” can be misleading to non-collectors. As a general rule, if you have to explain why the number is “cool”, chances are it’s not cool.
A: No B: No C: No D: $20 E: store Welcome to CT & hope you keep searching. @Inspector43, @SteveInTampa & @SensibleSal66 correctly point out special serial numbered notes should be in perfect condition, need no explanation & should just scream "LOOK AT ME!" Here's a better site with the 'skinny on the serials.' I just want to add that you also have to take some of the content on these sites with a grain of salt. This site (link I provided) also mentions "Consecutive #" which AREN'T special in any way unless the # are SPECIAL too (like Low #) or you've got notes from a rarer (scarce) series (some collectors go for these). All notes come out consecutively! I also wouldn't be cracking open the champaign for a birthday # note (well maybe for my birthday #- which I have never found) but try selling these! "Doubles?" not so sure about that one. Ha! Good luck!
It’s neat that the first four numbers repeat as do the last four numbers which are different from the first four. The note is showing some signs of wear but I didn’t see any writing in it. I am a collector of such notes and I find your note interesting but that is where it stops. It’s interesting but it’s not worth any extra over it’s face value. If you can afford to set it aside please do so but the reality is a collector won’t pay anything over $20.00 for it.
