Nice looking coin and one of my favorites, classic head half cent! I'm usually wrong on these but my guess is a VF35!
EF40, not dissing your coin because I would be honored to own it myself, but I have a feeling this one got a Details Cleaned grade.
AU 50 here as well ...the photo makes me think there is a possibility that something is off with the surfaces but I'll stick to it being a problem free coin
This one was also under graded by 5 pts. Most give it a 40 in hand when asked ....again a Anacs grading special...Not that other graders are perfect....either....my point is waiting longer, paying the going rate, I believe that one will make out much better than taking a chance on rushed service,at a price point 3x's less than the going fate for having a coin graded and slabed. So going the cheaper route doesn't pay ....as now to get this, and the 53 lg cent graded proper....its going to cost me the $20 I paid to Anacs.... plus the rate of either pcgs,or ngc.....to have them given the proper grade.
Between 1 and 70, I win. Of course, I was late to the party as usual. Both are pretty nice coins thanks for sharing.
@Paddy54, I was in the process of grading your coin when I saw you did the reveal. Here's what I was going to say (sheesh, a guy can't sleep in Sunday morning any more): EAC sharpness VF-25 TPG grade VF-30 or maybe 35. I don't really see any reason for concern over the surfaces. The small nicks are pretty typical of a circulated coin of this grade and are not cause for net grading downward. The 1832s, and this is the C-1, are not known for weak strikes on either side so most of what we're seeing here is honest wear although I concede there is some small weakness in the strike of Liberty and the wreath leaves. Nice coin but I don't think it warrants a 40.
Well i will disagree as in hand its much better than my phone can capture. And have been told by a few dealer friends, and coin club members the same that in their view it not graded proper. This coin and the large cent...add to it the 38 D buffalos that were 67 & 68 grades and Anacs refused to put the attribution on the slab. Which were correct ...my point is you get what you pay for....I see concerns over turn around time at both Top TPG's my advice just wait it out..as I rather pay $50 @ coin and have more confidents in the final product than go the bargan route. So what was saved here? Nada...monies spent , the difference in value in the case of the lg cent is $120. From the grade given and actual grade. ...in value . And again I do understand that all are human and subject to error....its that Anacs has made one to many errors, or mistakes...for my money to trust their special's that in hinde sight are not a deal in the first place. As I will end up spending more to correct their rush job.
