here is a book i have being trying to acquire for sometime. every time i see it come up for auction i just miss it. well this time i got it. i even think this it the copy that i missed out on from the bidder who won the auction. it is the 1964 PHILIPPINE PAPER MONEY BY NEIL SHAFER. i only have the pictures from the auction but will post more pics when i receive the book. i have been into the Philippines banknotes as soon as i have first seen them. this book is a great resource for the notes with great pictures included. :thumb:

I know the feeling, urban, and congrats on finding the book. By coincidence, I have been searching for a particular book on African banknotes for years as well, and just got a copy a couple days ago. It's still in the mail as well, and I can't wait to get my hands on it.

Have fun with the new book!

Congrats! Looks like a cool edition.

Philippines notes are really cool. Similar yet different to old US notes design, look-n-feel. Sadly I've only looked at auctions of them and do not yet own any examples.

yes they are very similar to US currency all the way down to using our presidents

yes even though prices are outdated the info is very valuable.

thank you. i cant wait to get the book to dive into the great artwork. also get a better understanding of the different issues of the Philippines notes. there are so many variations that i have been wanting to learn about. i will post some info when the book arrives. looks like i have a great subject to use for my vignettes presentation coming up in May. :thumb:

Congratulations! I too have chased a few numismatic reference books for long periods of time over the years. It is so satisfying to finally acquire a copy to enjoy and add to my library.

i am really looking forward to it. i think its going to be very informative for our paper money community. a lot of time is spent on US notes and here is a nice way to expand that to world notes as well

Here's the book I've been waiting for... I think it's the only specialized book on the French notes in Africa. Been out of print for a while. Now I've got some reading to do!

What a coincidence! I just purchased a load of 1918-1941 Philippine currency today. As I was going through my Standard Catalog I was wishing there was a guide specific to these awesome looking notes. I guess I need to start looking for the book now.

I too enjoy collecting notes from the Philippines. Speaking of the Philippines I am sitting in a McDonalds in Marikina just outside of Manila writing this post. Will be here for about another 6 weeks. Just enjoying my retirement. Looking for some notes to add to my collection.
