I currently have COVID so I'm a bit slow getting these images posted. I bought two coins and won two others at the auction. These are the two I bought (the other two will be in a separate post): 1802/0 C-2 Draped Bust Half Cent 1804 C-11 Draped Bust Half Cent
Congrats on the coins: particularly the 1804 1/2 C. Sorry to hear of the Covid. Perhaps you should've bought a Plague-Dollar instead/ also? I have one, It's a taler from 1528: protects the holder from all forms of plague. I've never gotten Covid: bought the coin ca. 2004 or 2005 .
Don't know. Could be either. I felt flu-like symptoms coming on the day after I got home. So when I contracted it all depends on the incubation time in my case.
A lot of people seem to have gotten covid at the EAC convention, including at least two people who were masked almost the entire time. My wife and I did not get it, but many of our friends did.
Sorry that you also 'won' Covid at EAC22. I know of several of us that did so -- including myself and my bride (of 63yrs so far).
Very nice 1802/0 Half Cent, @kanga ! Nice surfaces and good detail left on that coin. Mine is not as nice, G4 or G6 maybe, but has very nice surfaces. Coming back to COVID at the EAC - I hope that all who got infected will recover without any serious consequences.
The coins are fine, your health is what counts. Hope you have been vaccinated? It would certainly help the healing process. Either way, Get well soon!
I don't think any of us are immune from this insidious virus. Staying home alone is about the only sure way to avoid it.
I've had both shots and both boosters. It surprised me when I caught COVID. But it's been like having a just a cold. Apparently having the shots makes the COVID impact much less. Now I have a prescription for some special pills. Two types for which I take two of one and one of the other twice a day for 5 days. All sorts of caveats about your health and any other prescriptions you are already taking. They leave a funny after-taste. BUT I've done two days and they appear to be working -- well. Head is unstuffing and nose has pretty much stopped running. And no sore throat anymore.
Glad you are recovering @kanga and congrats on your purchases! I had a table there and actually had quite a haul of donations to my collection of "authenticity challenged" coins...
Damn. A 1802/0. That’s a beyond tough coin. Congratulations and recover quickly. Though vaxxed and boosted I’m sure it’s nothing but an inconvenience
Here is my 1802/0 half cent. Same variety as @kanga example, but in lower grade. I bought this in a Bowers & Merena auction in 1988. I remember I paid $300 for it.
As a date it isn't that tough but it is tough with nice surfaces. The really tough one is the 1802/0 C-1. This is the one from the EAC sale. It went for what I think was a little on the cheap side $3,200.
