This week I was pleased to receive two very nice coins that were fairly priced and yet relatively scarce and quite presentable. First, 1952 British Hondura 5 Cents Uncirculated. This has a somewhat low catalog value but very nice in hand and in undamaged and nice metal is relatively hard to find: Second and Even Likely More scarce is a 1982 New Hebrides 5 Francs in lovely sparkling presentation. This date for New Hebrides is interesting in that the territory was now known as Vanuatu beginning from what I understand was 1980. As there was a perceived coin shortage, an order was placed for coins from the Paris Mint. The one Franc is fairly scarce, and melted evidently for the most part. Possibly scarcer was the Five Francs (this coin denomination), and then very much scarcer 10 and 20 Francs coins only rumored to exist for some while until some pictures turned up on the internet of somewhat less than desired quality; the 20 Franc coin had also looked as though it were left on a thoroughfare and run over a number of times.... British Honduras coins have long been a cherry pick target for me. Even dealers rarely seem to appreciate the value. I like both of your pick ups.
Indeed, I have been also the "trap door spider" on some of the British Honduras material also. Be entertaining to share stories no doubt...
