So I was right,I thought so after checking VV but then thought I was just seeing things, glad I'm wrong!!!.
Holy canoli you guys are judgemental. It's obvious the buffalo identifies as Jefferson. It could have been worse. Jefferson could have identified as a buffalo.
Pity the poor collector whose stash was raided by a spouse, kid, or grandkid and spent. Or, worse yet, a collector who was carrying this around in his pocket and in a moment of spending frenzy, gave it to the cashier without realizing it.
Heck, when I was a kid such nickels were found in pocket change every day. That must mean I am older than dirt?
No....Potty.. everyone busting on the op...over Jefferson vs buffallo...didn't see the forest for the trees!.... 'DDO' Nice find Pete.... its a doubled die... and of course none of the above ever mis spoke or made a mistake ... they can even walk on water..... mid January on a frozen lake.
I remember the day that they announced the invention of dirt on the Internet, which was of course steam-powered back then.......
Nice, and with very even wear and rims on both sides...likely re-released somehow more recently...hasn't been making the rounds since '36 by any stretch.
Buffs were quite common when I was a kid, but that was in the early to mid 50s. Looking through sacks of nickels, I saved rolls of 38-Ds, as I recall. I also found a couple of AU 16-Ds and an XF-AU 1914-D with a gouge below the date. I tried to "fix" it, of course, with about the amount of success you can imagine. Ah, the good ole days. I was too busy saving 1950-Ds and 1939-Ds to spend extra time with Buffs.
