I don't have any bees in my own collection, so I'll share this one from a Peus auction.

Soundtrack suggestions include Flight of the Bumblebee, Dancing Queen, and Honey. I do not recommend Sting. How about the BEE Gees?!

    Let's see your BEES!!!

Of the 150,000 species of Hymenoptera, none I believe appear on Byzantine coins.

A remarkable insect which is tirelessly helping the mankind... who in return have brought its population close to extinction :sorry:

This is one of my favorite coins

Happy Bee Day! i don't have my Ephesus uploaded on this puter,...its simple no bees, no fruits or vegetables..honey bees around here are making a comeback but for several years they disappeared and the only bees were the carpenter bees, which i allow to make 'apartments' in my porch beams...:) IMG_1112.JPG

Bees are one of our best friends. I grow lots of flowers just for them. No chemicals.

After about twenty five years of unrequited love I finally managed to get one of these
Ephesos Ar Tetradrachm 350-340 BC Obv Bee seen from above. Rv Forepart of a stag kneeling right head reverted. palm tree to left. Kinns Class G obv 119 15.26 grms 21 mm Photo by W. Hansen ephesost1.jpg When I started collecting Greek coins I thought that acquiring one of these should be a piece of cake. Well thanks for playing....Once I did get on I found the coin to be interesting on a number of levels. First the coin is remarkably chunky. At the time this coin was minted generally the flans are thinner and broader. This coin resembles the fabric of the Athenian "Mass coinage" minted over 50 years previously. The second was the historical context. This coin would have been minted roughly at the time of Philip II of Macedon's abortive "reconnaissance in force" in Asia Minor.
