Now you buy the hardware (laptop, chromebook, tablet) and then pay a yearly fee for a software package. You get the basic operating system and a browser. But if you want microsoft iffice with word, excel, PP, etc. You pay an annual fee.

I'm glad I got my laptop before they did that! And I am still using MS Works. I did move off IE, and went to Firefox. Life is good.
