Soooo does anybody know what happened to furryfrog02?

As soon as I heard about this, I had a feeling that that's what happened. Sometimes, remaining silent in the face of the nonsense spewed by one of the creeps who occasionally show up to infest Coin Talk (not this forum, fortunately!) simply isn't worth it, whatever the consequences.

Of course I didn't witness the conversation. But based on past history, I highly doubt that this is a completely accurate representation of what took place.

I did. A new user logged in with a flamingly political avatar and status message. FF2 called him out on it in the thread, in equally flamingly political fashion. The troll, erm, "welcome new user" got his avatar and status message removed, but his account is still there. FF2 appears to have been perma-banned.

CT lost a lot by kicking him off, but "rules are rules". The particulars of the case have left a particularly foul taste in my mouth, but there's not much more to say about it.

That is a pity. I enjoy his posts, and from what I have seen, furryfrog has always been a good citizen of this board. It is hard to loose his presence here to a troll, and I hope his ban is not permanent.

You are able to think what ever you want. He went off on the new guy for having a tag line that Furry didn't like.
Not too mention he personally attacked me for something I said over a year ago. After that he took a good long vacation.
Just saying this wasn't the first time.;)

From what I've been told, I think you mean a flagrantly political tag line that violated every rule in the book! Sometimes, there are things up with which one cannot put (to paraphrase the apocryphal saying often attributed to Winston Churchill; see https://quoteinvestigator.com/2012/07/04/churchill-preposition/).

Donna I get your point, let's not forget one of the biggest rules.
Personal attacks are not tolerated. They will get you a vacation every time. It would have been easy to just report the new member, give him the iggy button and walk away.
Being on the other end of one of Furry's personal attacks, I have zero sympathy.

I don't remember the occasion, and don't know what you said to provoke him or what he said in response, so I can't pass judgment. Sometimes, the issues of whether something is an "attack" or a criticism, and is "personal" or limited to someone's words -- the only way we know people here -- are very much in the eye of the beholder.

I've had confirmation from furryfrog02 that he was indeed banned due to his having been less than polite to a conspiracy theorist/bigot. :depressed: He doesn't know for sure if it's temporary or permanent. I wonder if he might be allowed back on if he agreed to remain within the Ancients forum, where these sorts of incidents happen a lot less often. It's a shame if his kids will no longer benefit from the expertise and generosity of our knowledgeable members.

He's given me the all-clear to give his email to his friends here who want it, so if you don't already have it drop me a pm.

Perhaps he will read this thread and start over at Partisanlines.com as several others have done. Many current and former members have accounts there. Peter was very smart when he put that forum in also to counterbalance this one. I do understand when someone does go too far, so we try to jump in as quickly as possible, but as selected volunteers we have other lives which take time also. If members see any such posts that could or have cause problems, please report it ( only the moderators will see it ). But please do it after re-reading the rules as we do have a few members who report all posts they disagree with, no matter the subject. Jim

What's partisanlines, exactly? I've looked over there and it looks like a separate site just for politics, but I can't be certain.

Cointalk's Admininistrators love banning people, sometimes for no reason at all. But don't ask too many questions, they might just decide to badmouth the banned member via PM to try to get you to stop asking. There are plenty of other forums like the various Facebook ancient coin groups(PM me if you'd like info) or the Ancient Coins discord that have plenty of members banned from here. You'd think they'd be a cesspool. Instead there is actually plenty of good discussion there and bans are relatively rare and usually actually deserved.

Gained the respect from those who really appreciate hard-line rule following, I guess :/

Of course, furryfrog's kids aren't banned, so if they continue to collect coins, then once they're a little older the second generation could join!

I think staying in the Ancients forum is a great idea in general. The only other forum here where I post occasionally is the World Coins forum. I know that anyone is allowed to post in this forum, but almost every single one of the rule-breaking "political" arguments here has been provoked by someone who doesn't collect ancient coins sticking their oar in.

It is for discussions in all of the areas that Cointalk doesn't allow such as
    Religion, Politics, World events.

    Geez........I'll miss the guy.

As for partisan lines, there's mostly kooks and nuts there. A real menagerie of sorts.

Sad news! I really enjoyed furryfrog02's posts.

It seems to me that it is best to report an offensive post rather than responding to it and getting into the slippery slope of escalating exchanges.

If someone posts inflammatory rhetoric or uses an offensive avatar, the CT moderator needs to take remedial actions, including disciplinary if needed.

It's sad to see a member go out over such a thing. I only know that he always was perfectly well behaved in the Ancients Forum, and I always liked reading his posts.

If you're reading this furry: I hope you'll be back here someday. :)

I can’t believe this. I’m sad. Very sad. Furry is such a nice guy, a family guy. We attended LIVE the birth of his last baby here on CT ! I know you can read this thread Jared and I hope it’s only something temporary. And by the way, CT would surely be happy to welcome a young new member here. Is Braeden old enough to participate in the conversations here with us ? ;);)
