Teletrade? Have any of you ever bid on anything on Teletrade? I'm just wondering what you think of the site; how it's run, is it a reputable business, etc. Have you ever had any problems with them? Thanks!
TeleTrade is highly respectable - I have used their site many times in the past and never had a problem
Here's an update just in case any of you were wondering what these coins ended up selling for. By the way, I did not buy any of them. However, I did pick up an 1831 NGC VF35. 1809 - $120 1874 - $140 1829 - $110 I payed $99.20 total with shipping/insurance and auction fee for my 1831. What do you think? It's a bit weak in a couple of spots, but I think it's a very nice coin and it was within my budget. I'm excited and can't wait to receive it!
My two cents... The 1829 is a nice coin and I would have no problem paying $110.00 for it. Since most Capped Half Dollars were cleaned in the past, there should be a Premium on original surfaces not a discount due to cleaning... unless the cleaning left visible hairlines. BJG
cleaned I've been thinking that buying cleaned coins might be an affordable way to fill some holes with key date coins. If they look nice, a cleaned coin would not bother me at all. If I get my sets full I have no plans of selling anyway.
I agree. From my limited exposure, there are some cleaned coins that just have had a bit too much damage for my taste. However, there are also plenty that have nice surfaces still and are even re-toning quite nicely. Also, this will be my first Bust Half with Lettered Edge. This is also my first experience with buying any coins over the internet. I hope it all works out well. I'm excited! (in case you can't tell). I also should mention that those prices I listed there for the three NCS graded coins is before adding the 12% auction fee and $4 shipping and insurance. As you know, all of this has to be taken into account when deciding how much to bid on an item in an auction or over the web.
I don't think so, He was making a point; damaged coins have no value to collectors. I disagree with his point but I understand that many numismatists feel that way.
