Hey folks, I know this is a coin forum, but I did see some other token related threads, so I thought I would ask. Getting more things from the folks, and here are some out of a box with other tokens and such. This one is about the same size and weight of a morgan dollar. It appears to be a souvenir from the 1974 world cup in Germany. The design is awesome, looks 3D. I cannot find any information on the web. Any information or a possible value? Any information on these 2 would be appreciated as well. This one is about the size of a morgan dollar and heavier. This one is the size of a presidential dollar with the thickness of a quarter. Thanks
Well I found some information on the swastika 'good luck' token. It's circa 1920, and I haven't seen the exact same one, but similar ones go for between $25-$60 on feebay. The swastika was on a lot of tokens prior to the war, as a symbol of good luck. The second one is a famous circus owner from Germany. I have not seen any image of a token with his name on it or reference to it. And still nothing to reference for the first one.
All 3 are really cool tokens i have never seen before. Ill be interested in learning more about them as well.
The Worcester Salt Company token is an easily found good luck token made by Whitehead and Hoag. The Worcester Salt Co. was later absorbed by the Morton Salt Co., and it was located in Warsaw, NY, which is one of the principle salt producing areas of the country. This token is an advertising tool, lucky pocket piece and a club membership all in one. The swastika is also known as a Navajo cross. I have a half dozen or so of the Worcester Salt tokens, but I paid less than $10 each (on ebay) for mine, even the uncirculated ones. In checking ebay completed auctions for reference values, there was only one Worcester token similar to yours (but with slight differences), and that nice AU token had an opening bid of $13.99 but did not receive any bids. Another Worcester token of a different style remains unsold with a buy it now of $14.95. Personally, I would be surprised if I saw any Worcester Salt tokens sell for more than $15.
