Does this ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...88123&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1713wt_1165) look like a genuine 1914 D? Does it seem odd that the bidding is so low and that there is much less damage right around the date and mm? -Nick
First off, with that much damage, I would not expect it to go for too much more than it is currently bid ($123.51). Therefore, at least some people out there feel it is real. His pictures are too small for me to say much more than I see nothing to tell me it is fake and not enough to begin to say it is real.
well the price just shot up. looking at it less than an hour ago it was at $30. I was thinking of buying it, just taking the chance. But with something that damaged it's probably not worth the risk of over $100.
The D looks right to me although it is hard to say for sure on such a small pic, If I had to guess I'd say genuine. It may be beat up but it'll make someone happy.
I'm not at all an expert at identifying fakes/copies, and I don't know if it means anything, but the 4 and kind of the D look more crisp and defined than the rest of the date. Does that indicate numbers being changed or anything?
Well, if I had to vote, I would say it is real. Don't see anything particularly suspect. Having differing 'quality' in the elements can be explained by normal wear. But mostly, if someone were going to go to the trouble to make a fake, it seems they might have picked a 1914 in a little better shape to add the 'd' to.
Looks real to me, but its more or less just a filler. If you keep scrolling down the page you'll see the large pics of it...
