So, I have recently come across a guy saying that he has a 1995 $25 American gold eagle, graded by NGC at MS70. He wants a very large amount of money because, he says, there are only 8 such coins in existence. This is only partially born out by the PCGS population guild showing none of these coins however, I have let my NGC membership lapse and cannot verify if this guy is telling me the truth or not. I have been searching the internet for nearly 2 days and can find none of these, in this grade, for sale. However, they minted the normal 50K+ of these and MS69 are not particularly valuable.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thank you,
    TC Harp

Honestly its a waste of money

  4. Think of all the raw gold bullion you could buy instead. TC

I didn't mean that in a rude way, and if you really want it go for it...but I agree you would be better off with raw, or get the 69's if you want certified...but honestly get one with some REAL numismatic value!

NGC's pop has the 1995 $25 AGE MS70 at 9, the MS69 at 1048. The (Over)Price Guide has no price for the 70. The 1988 (pop of 6) lists at $4160.

Bottom line for alot less you could have a great coin in "69"

Only if by "great" you mean "indistinguishable from a 70 to the naked eye!"
