Two days ago I bought this beautiful antoninian, Otacila Severa, from my friend and today I found the amazing A.Severus Nikaea coin, near mint condition..After cleaning, I will definitely post a photos..
Can't wait to see it cleaned. Both are nice coins. Really like the one you purchased, too. But, finding is "fun"!
That Otacilia is lovely, @galba68! I can't wait to see the Severus Alexander when it's clean, too. My example of the type came from Jonathan K. Kern about 25 years ago. Otacilia Severa, AD 244-249 Roman AR antoninianus, 3.96 g, 23.1 mm, 12 h. Rome, AD 246-248. Obv: M OTACIL SEVERA AVG, diademed and draped bust, right, on crescent. Rev: CONCORDIA AVGG, Concordia seated left, holding patera and double cornucopiae. Refs: RIC 125c; Cohen 14; RCV 9147; CRE 522.
@galba68 ...Very nice purchase! Looking forward to seeing that lovely green patina in its full... Paul
Ooh, excellent Antoninianus! The MD find looks to be pretty sharp; with a very nice green patina too. Here's an Otacilia of mine, featuring PIETAS on the reverse. Otacilia Severa, (Wife of Philip I). (AD 244-249). AR Antoninianus. Rome Mint. Minted (AD 248-249) O: OTACIL SEVERA AVG; Diademed draped bust right, on crescent. R: PIETAS AVGVSTAE; Pietas standing left, holding box of perfumes.
