I need to choose 4 commemorative half dollars, and I want them to be meaningful. I am thinking maybe the first one of each era (1892 Columbian and 1982 Washington), then maybe the 1926 Sesquicentennial and wait for the 2026 Semiquincentennial, Any other ideas?

I had the same decision to make. I went with the Columbia Exposition, the Pilgrim Tercentenary, the 1982 G. Washington Silver Half and a 1986 Statue of Liberty. That was 2 older and 2 newer issues. I can post photos if you like.

You can always change it, but I like the 1892 and the 1982...also the 1926 plus the others suggested. Not sure the 2026 will be anything great to my liking...not very hopeful...but if to yours that's what counts.

I think one should be a PF70 Lafayette. LOL
Seriously, I think your suggested choices would be nice.

I like the Pilgrim one and there's only 20,000 and it's undervalued.

Might I suggest an Oregon Trail for your type set?

If there is one that represents the state you live in or that you have a personal connection to you may want to include that. I actually found a Colombian 1892 in circulation! so that was one of mine. I'm in California 1925 so found a really nice one and that went in. The last 2 I chose more modern for price and perfect proof quality, and I think that represents the idea of the comem's.

I am working on a second type set. This time doing the MOST COMMON YEAR set. For each example, I'm choosing the year / mm that had the highest mintage. Kind of fun!
