Well, my account is back! Oddly enough I started messing with trying to log in just as (once I checked) there was an email saying it had been 'disabled by mistake'. And, for whatever reason it insisted on an SMS message, and those are still not coming to my phone from Instagram. So I had it sent to my husband's number and it worked just fine. Weirdness on that part persists. Logged out, logged in, changed the password, logged back out and in and I went from 'Instagram user' with no profile pix back to starcityhomer and the star/dog avatar. In any case, happy to say I have it back and no hacking involved. Made me sad to think I'd lost the Homer name. Even it hasn't been mine as long as 'Stork' and I was even toying with changing my website to something more boring like StarCityCollections (because StarCityStork just sounds silly ) And @ewomack I've got too many to post and not look unhinged. But to give you an idea (I'll leave as thumbnails). IG is giving me an opportunity to standardize my photos and organize them so when I re-do my site it looks better. This is just the 1870 group.
SMS is, under the covers, a lash-up of different trchnologies at different providers. So there are various other service providers that offer businesses a "single seamless experience" to reach all of your customers. Which often isn't seamless.
Indeed some beautiful coins, esp the 1914. Sorry, but I don't have a "yen" for any of that Insta-this/that stuff, to include the twitter/tweets, meta/facebook, tic-tok and all other forms of social media and disinformation. Too many hacks, thefts, and various other invasions of privacy to be heard about and had...at least to/for me. Do use email on my desk/lap-tops and maybe some occasional short/quick text on my 20-yr-old dumb-phone (flip) that still works good enough for what it was designed for and that I need. I grew up being taught/learning needs v. wants...went through some back-sliding years in my 20s-40s when earning power was inflated to match my head and before anything of today's SM, but now at 70 and retired for several years on limited income, have been back to basics and just as well, given what/where all this has gone...don't want nor need any of it in such crazy/controlled, manipulated and invasive forms that exist, tempt and torment today. To each their own.
Data farming. From reports other accounts have been denied access without entering more personal information.
Ah, that is interesting. I had not originally added my phone number, but when I tried I couldn’t confirm. I finally realized the IG number was on my blocked list when I compared to my husband’s phone. I have no idea when/how I blocked it. Weirdness. And data mining kind of makes sense. I’ve kept my number from Facebook so far. And my Facebook has nothing to do with the IG account. Not even the same email. Surprised FB hasn’t done this yet.
Theres accounts that wont let you sign in unless you put in your birthday which is completely irrelevant to everything besides data farming as an example. FB owns IG and does the same things they're usually just more discrete because they have to be not being the "it" platform for becoming a star. Pretty much no one is making a FB account trying to become a new influencer compared to their competitors and the thirst trap models basically go to IG so they dont even have that aspect. FB does basically all the same data mining and shadow banning etc that IG does though
