Can anyone identify this rim lettering? Is it an impression? Thanks in advance!

Appears to have the impression of a backwards ONE along the rim. Not super well versed in this kind of marking so any help is much appreciated!

A reversed ONE on the rim would indicate damage. Another coin was pressed into yours leaving the reversed impression. It's not an error.

 

That maybe the case,to my eye the size doesn't match,that's why I believe struck thru.

 

I’m going with damage and being a 1982, it’s probably copper coated zinc.

If you note, your coin is in the reverse and looks incuse. @Oldhoopster has you steered in the right direction.
