I can see this crowd is tilting a certain way. I hope the poll is still active when the other crowd gets home and responds to the question. This crown evidently has no holes and I know a bunch of the collectors are collecting that way...me for example. Anyhow the more that answer the more dispersed the results.
Well, I didn't vote because I buy for all the reasons except "To resell for profit" I sometimes need a hole filler, I continually upgrade my collections, and sometimes just because I like it.
If it catches my fancy I might buy it if the price is right. So put me down for the 'I just want it' crowd. Also it would have to fill a hole but the way I collect is I look to buy an example of every coin ever made so it will always fill a hole.
Well - I voted cause if I did not want it, then I would not buy it. So that makes the other three answers moot. As it is - spread across all 4, but less towards 2.
I would say choice 1 and 3. Choice 4 can only happen after the fact. Choice 2 is for investors, I am a collector.
Well, I don't think the poll really fits my collecting angle. I am now a cherry picker, as my date set is complete. I hunt down all the small varietys. I buy Large cents if they are cheap, I buy them if they have a variety I don't have, heck, I even buy them if they have a variety I do have. The more the merrier... right? I'm slowly pushing into the hoarding rather then selling of my large cents. Before I would sell doubles and use the money to buy more I need. I am now pushing into the hoarding mode and just keeping them all. I have now filled two boxes with them and I hope to fill many more. So my vote would be under: Because it's cheap, a variety, a hole filler, or I just want it.
So far, all I have done is roll searching but when I do start buying. it will be to complete my seta of Lincolns
