Found this yesterday...pretty worn and not as nice as the one Zzyzzyth got, but thought it was a cool find....

    Congrats!

This particular DDO always amazes me since the doubling is HUGE!

I think more folks should spend time looking for this one. You do know that its available in US Mint sets for 1974?

Nice going , two in one day on CT! It may not be as nice as Z's ,but I wouldn't kick it out of my collection! Did you find it roll searching?

    Hi,
I just want to check to be sure it's a 1974 D (Denver Mint) Doubled Die Obverse.
    Thanks,
    Bill

It's a nice find but also a fairly common.
Not to down-play you find but for a bigger picture don't you know. I have found 10 or 12 in mint sets or rolls in BU. The supply is greater than the number of folks who need or want one.
I have had a SEGS (god help us with the TPG companies) MS-64 for about six months at the show each month and no one has even asked to look at it and they come to me for die varieties!

Thanks for clarifying that is is the D version of the coin. I haven't found any like this on other 1974 halves.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Its funny...I was going to sell it...even listed it, then I started having collectors remorse so I pulled the auction....I kinda like it....so I'll keep it..

This is actually only the second one I have ever seen..the one ZZyzzyth posted this weekend was the first...I've seen alot on e-bay for sale, but none of the pics even looked like doubling to me....I was begining to think that I just couldn't see it....but when I saw the real thing it was pretty obvious..

Exactly! I absolutely love it! The doubling is awesome!

And it's the first one I didn't have to post and ask - LOL!

Why do you need help from heaven because you have an SEGS coin?

I purchased a couple '74D mint sets with the DDO in them.

    Hi,

Just to clarify, I have 20 to 30, 1974 D DDO Kennedys here. I also have many doubled dies on other date and Mint combinations. I have not seen one as drastic as what is seen on the 1974 D on a 1974 P circulation strike or a 1974 S proof.

They are more common than people realize and that is the reason for the prices having gone down over the past five years or so.

When Roll searching, I find 1 to 4 of these per month. Some are late die state or very worn and I don't even keep those.

    Thanks,
    Bill

PS: They are still fun finds no matter how many there are out there:)
