How's that for use of alliteration as an attention agent? This bad boy just showed up today. A Vespasian Alexandrian tetradrachm with Titus reverse dated LA year 1 . The Roman legions in Alexandria proclaimed Vespasian emperor on 1 July 69 CE. This coin was struck within the two months before the Egyptian new year began on 29 August 69 CE. A real rarity, and I love the fact that you can clearly see the gorgoneion on Titus' curaiss. That makes two year 1 Vespasian Alexandrians in my collection now. https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=175576 https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=166799 AYT TIT ΦΛAYI OYEΣΠAΣIAN KAIΣ Head of Vespasian, laureate, right, date LA before neck ΦΛΑΥΙ ΟΥΕΣΠΑΣΙΑΝΟΣ ΚΑΙΣ Laureate and cuirassed bust of Titus right with gorgoneion on breast plate Alexandria, Egypt 1 July - 28 Aug 69 A.D 11.77g RPC 2405 (6 spec.) I do have Hadrian tetradrachms from Alexandria from years containing a 1, including Years 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, and 19 -- but not from Year 1 per se!

Jay, Nice score . I left a pre-bid on that coin but you outbid me . BTW, the lot number on that coin was 335 not 355 .
Great acquisition Not my most clever contribution to CT, but, hey, you asked : Sir James his having a bath, and relaxing in the bath hub. I mean really relaxing. After a while, his butler knocks at the door and comes in with a beverage. - Brian, did I ask you for something ? - Well Sir, I fear I distinctly heard through the door "Brian, bring me a big bottle of brown beer" ! Sorry Q
