It does indeed happen to us all. Now to this coin I've opened up all the photos and all I can really see is it's an 1960-D. It may be the doubled die and RPM #100 but I cannot tell. If looking at the mess they (the Mint) made of Liberty and on almost all 1960-D SMDTS alone that is the way they came.
here is a little better pic and im sorry about the die break i was unaware that was the term.lol i listen to what you guys say as to im no expert but do have some knowledge lol.the liberty and date and mint mark have doubling without a doubt.and the copper surronding lincoln is just very glossy.lincoln is grey blue and perfectly outlined that way.also there is a struck grease mark lower left and all over the back.im positive of the grease .and small date.but the doubling is hard to tell because i thought machine doubling looks like smudges, were the one i have is overlaying?that is one part im confused also why lincoln is a shiny blue grey color?
If you can make those pictures into jpg's, they can be significantly larger. That way we might be able to see the doubling.
ok i will try that how have you been rmls cents?have not seen you on here for a while?i got a 72 penny on aother thread you might want to check out two
Now you need to crop the picture to the coin (or better, to the doubling). And most importantly, to see the doubling, it has to be in focus. Oh, and, I have been around. Had a little problem this weekend, but I have been on line every day.
The 60D/D DDO.RPM-100 has a strong horizontal raised bar on the shoulder. Easy to identify , even if the upper D is worn.
ok also rms cent something is bothering me on this cent that wont show on my camera.the penny on the edges is very glossy red gold like no other pennies i have and i have 10s of thousands.also there seems to be no copper coating on lincoln he is greyish blue and on the back there is only a small trace of the shiny copper and the rest is like a regular penny.i wish it would show it is def strange.its not gold its like a red gold glossy proof coin but im pretty sure its not.
ok guys i just got out big birtha my huge mag glass i see like a faint i mean faint out line of a d shape abouve the d and almost touching the 6?dont know what it is it doesnot look like a mint mark but a strange D shape very very thin o wait its not a d its a line that runs up from the d to the bottom of the 6 /dont know what it is?
1960 D/D, sm date/lrg date,DDO,RPM-100 Here is the whole coin with the die gouge pointed out. Here is a close up of the gouge, and also the comma shaped gouge near the date ( found in 3rd stage) and the broken inner "6" part of the die coming off at an angle( only in stage 4), so this is a LDS (4). Jim
That's wild that that is probably the most visible identifier on both MDS and LDS specimens and yet Coppercoins makes no mention of it. Thanks for posting those pics and reminding me of this.
thank you mine does (not)have any of those marks. mine is a small date i established that part.but my liberty is doubled along with the mint mark and some of the date?
