Although I am not a Flavian specialist as some are on this board, in the main I do collect coins from the first century BC through the first century AD. Thus far I have 15 Vespasian, 6 Titus and 9 Domitian examples in my collection. I always seem to have trouble finding Titus coins affordable and in decent condition. This is my latest addition, and although I have yet to research, there are only 8 examples of this coin on acsearch. Any insight is greatly appreciated. TITUS as Caesar AE Dupondius OBVERSE: T CAESAR VESPASIAN IMP III PONT TR POT II COS, Radiate head of Titus right REVERSE: ROMA VICTRIX, Roma seated to left on cuirass, holding Victory and spear; behind, various arms; S C in exergue Struck at Rome, 72AD 10.5g, 27.76mm RIC 633; RIC? 483 (R2) Ex Frank Kovacs Thank you in advance for looking.
James, Nice score ! This coin must be another accolade for the victory in the Roman-Judean War . The different patinas are fascinating. Fortunately they weren't ruined by excessive cleaning .
Very nice coin with a great patina. I've also found it difficult to find reasonably priced coins of Titus.. I assume his short reign isn't helping..
