Thoughts/Grade? [FONT=Times New Roman,Times Roman] Many of these coins were made from the metal of other copper coins and tokens that were circulating at the time. In 1809, the Liberty head was shifted to face left, and a more robust figure replaced the earlier Miss Liberty. Her hairdo was accented with a ribbon with the word, "LIBERTY," on it. Thirteen stars were added to the design. The wreath was changed and the fraction removed. These are known as the "Classic Head" types. This style was minted from 1809 to 1836. None was minted from 1812 to 1824, and none in 1830.[/FONT]
Nice details on that coin. I would say XF details(corroded then cleaned) net VF. I don't have any books on the baby coppers so I don't know the cohen number.
I concur with mark, XF-45 details, corroded then cleaned not badly mind you, but enough. A very nice coin however
I really like the classic head design. I agree with xf details, cleaned. I am not confident in my ability to differentiate corrosion from a rough planchet.
Very nice, I love that design. I agree with the comments below. Not that my opinion on this series is even worth it's weight in aluminum... But I certainly agree it was corroded and has been taken care of since.
Man, I'm so proud of me. without looking at any replys, just the pics, I thought, Cleaned, XF-40. My grading eye is getting better.
I do the same thing - I look at the coin form my opinion, post my reply without looking at other answers. A few times I have been way(way way) off the mark - but good practise. Especially when it comes to coins outside your comfort area.
I would also question rough planchet over corrosion, soft poor planchets then...... XF-40 Cleaned fer sher. Fellow
