    Vertigo Did someone say bust?

So around a year ago I was looking over populations at CAC and saw that there were no 1917 P slq at po01 with beans. Or any other of the mints of that year for that matter. Then last October I found a couple nice slick 17p and a slick 17s. In December I sent them to pcgs for grading and truview. I also dug out my slickest 32p and 32d Washington quarters. Sent them in with the slq. After the longest wait the 3 slq all returned with po01! The 2 Washington quarters got fr02 as I figured they would. They finally came back from pcgs and it was right after they suspended cac lower tier submissions. So another month waiting and I was able to send them to CAC. They aren't even back yet. But all 5 received a green bean. I now have the only ones with the bean on the low end slq. And the only 32p and 1 of 2 of the 32d. I know there are probably lots more out there. I know the low value of the coins and the cost of grading and all that. But it was finally nice to get a top pop in the registry. Even if on the low end. I'll upload the slabs pictures when they get back later this week.

Don't take this the wrong way, but that's a lot of money spent for 'bragging rights'.

Forgive me......... I haven't had my coffee yet.

It is what it is. When I sell the p mint that I'm selling I'll come back to this thread and show you that one paid for all with a few hundred more in profit. Right now there are only 2. And only 1 for sale. And that is my plan. I'm keeping the other, and the s mint and working still to find the elusive d mint for a set of 3.

    Congrats on the lowballs. Impressive!

    Reminds me of going to
    the barber though . . .

He says, "I can take more off, but can't put more on."

    A cool project!
And while many don't see the value, there are a few registry set players that will pay up for the P01 with CAC. So I'm sure you will do well even with the costs incurred.

Top pop for a low ball set? That's an oxymoron. Shouldn't it be bottom pop since it's in the worst condition of any graded example?

Or maybe it's the best worst coin. But wouldn't you want the worst worst coin for a lowball set? I give up
