Either that, or an incredibly rare error. Wrong planchet AND wrong die. and they must have run it on the wrong equipment as well. crazy...
Welcome to CT Alexander. As you probably already figured out, members here appreciate FULL IMAGE photos that are well focused. The learning curve in looking for errors and variety can be a steep one, and it takes time, but the advice and links posted by members can really help speed it up, so keep looking, posting, and above all, read all you can about the minting process. Good luck.
Flat and shelf like, no evidence of split serifs, you don't have it If you're going to look for doubled dies, you really need to learn the characteristics of true hub doubling vs worthless mechanical and die deterioration doubling, which are very common. Read and study these two links https://www.doubleddie.com/58222.html https://www.doubleddie.com/144801.html If you think you found a doubled die, check the following sites first Www.doubleddie.com Www.varietyvista.com Don't forget, doubled dies come from a single die, so if it's not an EXACT match, you don't have it BTW: I strongly recommend bookmarking the sites and refer to them often
In the beginning, they got a microscope, and they're raring to go. After awhile, that should occur to them.
