    Are these your dads coins? You are saving these, right? I suggest as you go through these to give them an overnight soak in acetone, gently roll an acetone moistened qtip across the surface. Then another over night soak in acetone. Take the coins out and let them air dry overnight. Then place them in 2x2 flips. This conservation method combined with low moisture storage will protect the coins for years.

    Save and frame that 1954 Nickel. Hold candlelight vigils and be thankful for that one coin. It’s my birth year. :smuggrin::smuggrin:

    It's best if you always use new (clean) acetone so you don't get any residue from the used acetone. @Dynoking just left that bit out, but he is total correct if you plan on preserving and keeping them.
    That first one, the 1954, looks to be a "woodie" (improperly mixed alloy), which can be found in many nickels.
