Like I said, I never thought I’d have 3 cent silver in proof. But opportunity knocked at 5 a.m. The early bird got this worm!

  6. Vertigo

    Vertigo Did someone say bust?

Didn't even get to run the bid up on this one. Got it for BIN. Probably a little over grey but decently under pcgs price guide. Another nice original mid grade seated half.

IMG_4880a.JPG View attachment 1472291 All that OT is paying off! Ever heard of the Kingdom of Lundy? Here's a Half Puffin from 1929. Some rich banker bought an island in the English Channel and declared himself king. Affordable and interesting. Anyone else love these old ANACS photo grade holders? Did they all have Dominion Financial slabs in 1984 or is that unusual? What's that about? It's got metal tape seals labeled as such on the sides sealing the slab, lol. I finally have my 3 cent Feuchtwanger in hand - I can see the "altered" surface (I think) pretty clearly now - it looks smoothed. I have nothing to compare it too, but that makes sense. What a great day!!!

I think hands down, this is the most beautiful die pair that Ron Landis has ever engraved.

It's his die trial reproduction of the Judd J12/P14 1792 US Quarter Pattern.

An amazing piece of US Numismatic History, and one of Ron's most faithful designs.

For comparison, here is a link and screen shots of the actual 1792 Quarter Pattern Ron was emulating.

This latest acquisition is actually broad struck out of collar in the same manner as Judd J13/P15 on white metal (pewter) cobs. Only 4 of the original pewter patterns exist, two broad struck as seen below.

I am totally excited to have secured this pair.

I would like to learn more about the Dominion Financial ANACS certificate coins as well. I just got a similar WLH only w/o the metal tape seals.
