jeff nickel 64-65-66-67-68 very very shiny?

    hello i got these jefferson nickels today my freind had them and gave them to me they are 1964 to 1968 and they look very different from common nickels.they are very detailed and shiney?they are uncirculated was there a special nickel made in those years?i found a 1965 nickle not long ago and it looks just like these ?any clue why there so detailed and shiney silver looking? 1862csa1.jpg

    If they are circulated at all, they are only nickels. At first I thought you might have proof nickels, but then looked at the dates and realized they can't be, because no proof sets were issued in 65-67. My guess is that these were part of someone's set and they removed them from circulation years ago.....maybe in the early 1970s. They aren't worth more than $.05, but make nice additions if you have a nickel folder set.

    I'm not sure what you mean by detail. They do look nice, but you can't compare the detail of coins over 11 years old, to ones now. They just don't strike the coins as nicely as they once did. Compare the bicentennial quarter you use as an avatar to a statehood quarter obverse and you will see what I mean.

    yes for sure unc/AU MS Jeffersons not from SMS.
