1978 Broad-Strike Canadian Cent

    Interesting coin Rick.
    After seeing @SPP Ottawa post in Post your world coin errors. Some of these Canadian coins we see and think they are broad struck are actually Off center strikes with a partial stiff collar.

    Have you weighed this coin? It's hard to decipher what is going on at the top of the coin from those photo angles.

    It's a broad strike all of the outer device features are there . Off center is when the outer devices are missing .

    I consider the denticles part of the outer devices. You do not have to do the same.

    If the planchet is not well-centered, but the design remains complete on both faces, the error is called an “uncentered broadstrike”.
