It's a really nice promotion. I think they've only been doing it for the last year or so but it adds up over a 4 month period. They don't have to do it. They're giving you free money to use off of purchases you would have made anyway! I've used it several times for discounts on coins.

I've got $26.85 saved up this earning period from buying coins and other miscellaneous items I needed. Looks like it pays out in April again.

If you snipe a nice coin at a great price with free shipping, you have to admit that's a pretty good discount off the top. I give ebay a lot of criticism in general but I have to praise them for this. Another bonus for buyers.

Yes, I like the promotion and have an amount built up, but the 4 month period is a long wait to use it.

With them raising prices and FVF if you sell, it doesnt make much difference unless you buy alot more then you sell.

Most I got in bucks was $33, went to some low end world coins and a old Super Nintendo Game, lol.

I like the promotion. I've never gotten much in bonus bucks but it's been enough to cover the postage on a few items that I've purchased.

On just plane logic, they cannot collect money from the sellers, return it to the buyers, and collectively net the groups back to anything resembling even. We (collectively) would be better off if they would just not collect it to begin with. It is like taxes. They collect the money and we get some of it back, but I digress.

However, the idea is to attract more buyers. If the buyers are there, the sellers will come because with more buyers, they can sell there good for more money. I am sure eBay can judge its success better than I. In the mean time, if they want to give me the money to get some small trinkets for "free", more power to them.

As a former seller, Ebay bucks is just a reminder to me of the death spiral which has taken hold at Ebay over the past ten years. Quality of service has gone down, seller fees have skyrocketed, and foolish rule changes have hamstrung the community. Not to mention it is the ultimate safe haven for theft, fraud, and counterfeiting.

That extra $20 Ebay bucks check might be great for a straight buyer, but to a seller, its an extra 2% off the top that they aren't getting.

How bad is it and how desperate are they, that they need to pay buyers and rob sellers to scare up business.

I'm up over $50 so far... yes, its appreciated, and factored into my spending/buying when compared to storefront websites.

I know it is not a great thing for sellers but for us buyers who do by a lot on the bay, it is a nice gesture for us to keep coming back. I have always said that it does not have to be a large thing to make people feel like the are appreciated.

I really like it. I have been in for a while now, and have averaged about $30-$40 each quarter. I usually spend it on something that I would not ordinarily buy. Last time I picked up a nice 3 cent nickel for my type set.

My ex husband use to sell coins on ebay, and he used to sell alot of fake coins.
I did not like that, he told me he was doing it. They finally caught up with him,and took his acount number away ,he had to pay some of the people for his wrong doings

Just an ebay story,so be carefull on there.

    I'm glad i'm not with him anymore he was a beast,and a crook/

No offense to anyone.. I was a seller for years, going back to 1997... seen it all, and paid the fees!

However... if you dont like the game.. dont play. You want to sell online, yet dont like the fees? Build a website, promote it, and sell on your own. Its not as hard as it sounds if you do your homework, build a good site, give good service, ect...

However, you'll find that there is little if any savings in costs... paypal is still going to hit you, and having your own credit card machine can cost upwards of about $300 a month in rental & selling fees (not counting the dedicated phone line for it).

Website building will run you about $1200 for a decent site build, and another $20+ for monthly hosting, and another fee for domain hosting.

I own a well trafficed website store... it is worth it. But it did cost a good chunk to build it, and maintain it.

But understand... if you dont want to write your own meta tags, constantly promote yourself, spend the fees to go it alone, ect.. ebay is not such a "bad" deal. Sure, its expensive to sell... thats why a savy seller will use this tool for only the "frenzy" items sure to make a decent profit.

The key to ebay success is doing your research... Your item can be worth a ton, but if you dont research HOW to sell it on ebay, you'll not get what its worth. I think a lot of the problems some sellers have is based on this. They spend on extra ebay selling services, yet dont follow thru with the basics (like REALLY good macro photography)

There is a reason two seperate sellers, selling the same exact item.. say... a Engelhard 10 oz Loaf bar, will get such different results. Just this last week.. I saw one fell get $254 for his... while another fella only got $192. If you figure out why this happens, you can make good money honestly on ebay.
