Hey im not sure if this is a MD or a DDO. I couldnt find any examples. Can anyone take a look and see before I toss it into my MD Bucket.
yeah, I couldnt find any examples of a ddr. I thought the doubling in ONE CENT and mostly in the Cent was a doubling in E.
No one can accuse you of not staying on a task. The chances of finding errors or collectable cents are primarily in pre-1982 Arbie. Finding pre82's in change or in rolls is not that expensive and it's fun too. Good luck and again thanks for sharing.
Arbie - When you are trying to align with an attribution (VV, Coppercoin, Wexler, etc.), make sure to pay attention to the type of strike. It couldn't be DDR-005 because you have a Business strike and that is a listing for a Proof. Also, keep in mind what class of doubling you think you might have. For instance, the IGWT shows an effect that goes from the top of the letters to the rim. This is normally associated with Class 2 doubling. You can quickly search the Class 2 listings and skip over the rest. Once you've exhausted that, you might consider a Class of doubling that might present kind of like a Class 2 doubling...like some Class 4 doubling (although, other design elements are also affected). If you look at the attributions for Class 2, you won't find a match. At that point, you would have to start to consider if what you are seeing is true doubling, or something else like MD of DDD. In this case, it looks like a wobble...thus most likely, MD. Good luck on the hunt!
The planchet moved when it was struck, that's why both sides got it. You've an excellent example of that.
