Found this on my last trip to north America. I had never seen such a coin before and was rather surprised.
Somehow I missed this thread So many choices, so little time Back in 1723 these were minted to circulate in Ireland but with King George’s image, they were unpopular there. Many went to The Colonies, as they were chronically short of coinage. So here’s a half penny I picked from an LCS junk box. Wood’s Coinage
Chola - Sri Lanka, Parakrama Bahu II, AE massa, c.AD1236-1271. Apparently dug up, as it still has plenty of dirt in the recesses.
