1818 Large Cent

 

and with a nod to our northern neighbors, 1887 Canadian large one cent

 

Both well worn and did their duty as working coinage. What can I find now? Kushan, Vima Kadphises, c. AD100-128

 

Rode hard but Liberty still shines thru

 

1899 US 5 cent V nickel. These were hard working coins, through WWI and the depression.

 

Ireland half penny 1751, had a long and difficult life it appears.

 

There’s got to be more cool beat up coins out there. We love road kill coins. We see more then you don’t. Or confuse you

Found this on my last trip to north America. I had never seen such a coin before and was rather surprised.

So many choices, so little time
Back in 1723 these were minted to circulate in Ireland but with King George’s image, they were unpopular there. Many went to The Colonies, as they were chronically short of coinage.
So here’s a half penny I picked from an LCS junk box. Wood’s Coinage

 

Chola - Sri Lanka, Parakrama Bahu II, AE massa, c.AD1236-1271. Apparently dug up, as it still has plenty of dirt in the recesses.

 

1803 large cent

 

1853 three cent

 

It's kinda nice finding one's "signature coins" . . . . .

And a 1794 cent.

 

It appears these coins did their job, some above and beyond.
