Kind of a unique item you have there! Wouldnt think there would be to Many of these left, It would be hard to give you an accurate estimate You might want to check e-bay, Maybe you couold find something close There!

It is most likely a reproduction anyway. I don't know the history of this medal of course but Ladybug may know if it was a family heirloom or just a reproduction someone tossed in a box. I’m no expert, I just did a little internet research.
What's a reproduction. Is that a fake? I would like to know how much I could get for it.Please Jane ladybug. My ex husband use to collect coins ,and he sold coins on ebay, I sure wish he was around now.since I have these coins ,I must get to kansas by the end of this month. Jane
A reproduction isn't necessarily a "fake", it is a copy of the original sold by some company that sold them as such. The problem is that the second-hand market can often find people selling copies as the real thing to unsuspecting buyers. Like I said, if you don't know the history, just have it authenticated by an antiques dealer. Call them first and find out if they have an expert on this type of item in-house or if they can refer you to one. If they are honest, they won’t try and charge you for evaluating it. I'd make sure that you tell them that you are not interested in selling it, you just want it appraised. Who knows if they are just telling you it's a copy to buy it at a low price.

As identified already what you have is a US Navy Civil War Medal, authorized in 1907. Reproductions are available at about $24.95. Note that the Navy medal is different from the Army medal. If you have an original medal the value could be significant as Civil War memorabilia is actively traded. Reproductions are available from usmedals.com
