Hi there!!! I’ve had this quarter for a while and have looked online everywhere but can’t seem to find any like it. I mean, like the front of George’s mouth, I mean, good Lord! Also, that poor eagle is all messed up!! i know about the 1941 Canadian that some quarters got struck on, but this is neither a proof or an S so, I’m not sure what it is. The coin weighs 5.4g. im at a loss but I’m very intrigued about this. Any information will put my mind to rest on this dang quarter and will be appreciated greatly. Thank you!!!
Looks to have experienced environmental corrosion. Also there is a dent under the eagles right wing that corresponds to the bulge around the mouth on the obverse. Damaged, not an error IMO
Extreme heat exposure creates bulges under the clad. Someone applied a hot flame to the surface at one time. Not a mint error of any kind.
Wow!! I can’t believe that could happen outside of the mint. That’s crazy!! Ya learn something new everyday. I thank you for helping me out on this. My brain feels better.
sometimes on the beach during a bon-fire a coin is tossed in and like paddyman98 said heat can cause trapped gasses to bubble the coin.
Glad your mind is now at ease. I know coins that have been in a fire or otherwise heat damaged, can really look odd, but that's what probably happened to your quarter.
