I am sure i already saw the answer in another thread but i cannot seem to locate it....Any way I have decided to convert my note collection from albums to individual note holders and my question is are they any certain brand that is better and i should also be looking for PVC free holders correct? Thank you
I just recently bought a supply of small size holders and while they are not cheap they are made extremely well of high quality thick Mylar-D. I'm very happy with them. When I get home from work I'll provide a contact phone # or email.
As promised here is where I buy my Mylar currency holders... http://cgi.ebay.com/100-Clear-Safe-Modern-Currency-Sleeves-with-1-16-Lip_W0QQitemZ380204587561QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5885f59a29 Using Buy-It-Now 100 of these sell for $17, so with postage you are paying about 23 cents each but they are the best holders I have ever found and worth the money in my opinion. The seller has fresh stock and ships quickly. I can personally recommend him. :thumb:
the ones that are posted are good. those are semi-rigid. i use the rigid holders for my notes. here is a picture of them below. here is a sample link from ebay below. i prefer the strength of the rigid over the semi rigid. either would work for you. :thumb: there is nothing wrong with PVC. i have over 1000 notes in the holders with no issues at all. these are similar to the ones used for sports cards only larger of course. http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-of-75-Top-Load-RIGID-Currency-Holders-Free-Ship_W0QQitemZ260562492477QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3caabc1c3d
I have all my stuff in Mylar-D as well, It,s great!! This goes for all My Certified which PCGS only uses Mylar-D for all there encapsulations I would like to note as a kid i had about 10 full books of Baseball cards 100 Pages each of PVC, I still have them today 40 years later!! But The pages are very hard and discolored with a brownish tint have Sense removed them to Mylar-D its just FYI
Thanks a lot for the help guys, now i am just debating on which of the ones posted to purchase. :thumb:
BCW Currency Supplies Direct from the source if you want to check them out or need other supplies they make.
Some of the BCW products do contain PVCs so do be careful if you use those products with PVC and co-mingle coins with/near notes.
Thanks again guys i decided to go with an assortment of rigid and semi rigid and some mylar to see which ones work out best for me........and thanks for the tip about the PVC being around coins Krispy, they will only be co-mingled for a short while as i keep things together at the house for only about 2 weeks then they are sorted into 3 separate safety deposit boxes at the bank, thats why i need these holders so i could get them all to the bank as the albums they were stored in would not fit in a safety deposit box ....
Stephen, here's an interesting new thread in regards to currency and PVC exposure: Conserving currency after PVC holders
After reading the other thread i am kind of regretting purchasing the the PVC holders, are they any way to neutralize the effects that PVC have on the notes? If not i will probably just not use them and purchase more of the mylar holders...Also, would the PVC have the same effects on polymer notes? As always thanks for your help and guidance
Yes...PVC will cause a milky film on plastic...most prevalent on clear plastic but it will happen on plastics no matter what color they are!
