Someone/some people stamp little pics into the coin. I found one that has a small heart and reads "I LOVE YOU" in the middle.

Why people would do it...no clue.

    Silver Clad 1971-D ?

I have come across a 1971-D Kennedy Half that looks & sounds like silver more than the other 1971 Halves I have. I see in the Red Book that there were some 1971-D & 1977-D Halves that were struck in silver clad composition by error , but I have been unable to locate any values assigned to that particular error or a value assigned to silver clad coins of those years & mint. Can you direct me to an online resource for this info ?

    Thanks

Actually, this is the (almost sole) financing source of my collection. I trade most of them in for Modern Comm. (and holes), especially the 64's and 40%ers.

Modern commemoratives are after 1982 I think. by "holes" he means holes or missing coins from his album of folder. For example he needs a 1982P quarter for his album so that is a hole...

It is a 1973 cent, with a small stamped picture of JFK opposite abe. I think it came off of one of those strange coincidence sheets because there is some of that old stickum on the back, I just threw it into the prego copper jar so no pics will be forthcoming, but they are pretty common things.

If memory serves me the coincidences were some of these things, Lincoln was warned by his secretary Kennedy not to go to the theatre, Kennedy was warned by his secretary Lincoln not to go to dallas, Both presidents were succeeded by a Johnson vice president, Lincolns assasin shot him in a theatre and was captured in a warehouse, Kennedys assasin shot him from a warehouse and was captured in a theatre, neither assasin was brought to trial, I think there were others also listed...

first look at the edge and see if you can see copper, then I would Google it for more links to find prices..

I agree, find another bank! Parasites will do anything for a fee!

    Oh--Which bank is this?

I found one of the Kennedy-Lincoln cents not too long ago and learned they were sold either as an advertising promotion for a savings and loans , or they were just sold as souvenirs sometime in the 1970's.

    Liberty Nickel!

My wife works at WalMart as a CSM. She came home today with a 1903 Liberty Nickel that was found in a roll! It's in AG condition, but still... it's a 107 year old nickel. :kewl:

    Way cool Skippy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the way into work, I got $6 worth of halves and found 2 40%ers.

I also searched a box of dimes and found: one 1961 silver dime and one 1987 East Caribbean States ten cents coin. Also, I found 8 2009P dimes.

I've NEVER struck out with regard to silver when searching a box of dimes.....Of course, this was only my second box to go along with one bag. I've found one silver dime in each box, and 8 from the bag....

Nice find a liberty nickel. And here I was all ready to complain to about the local store that rounds up when giving change. I always like getting the pennies to search and today she did it again. Instead of .89 change she gave me 90 - I started to ask for the pennies, but there was a couple of people behind me. When I get home I pull out my change and the nickel was a 1945-P nickel. Good thing I did not complain.

    Thanks all!

Well this weeks finds for my wife are just stacking up! She came home with a problem-free VF condition 1935 Buffalo Nickel and an Unc. 2003 Australian 5 Cent coin with an Echidna (ant eater) design on it.

Some past finds by her at work have just been an assortment of world coins. Oddly most of them seem to be modern 20 pence UK coins.
Get this... if the found world coins are not snatched up by someone they throw them away at Wally World !!

And yes she brings them home for me not her! :D

I seriously need to get back to roll searching, with all of these people dumping old hoards!

    My Stats - My Story

I am pretty new to roll searching. And up until 2 weeks ago had never done it. So I was at a smiths grocery store a couple of saturdays ago and im looking at the US Bank inside the store so I think Ill try it.

I go up and ask for customer rolled coins and they don't have a lot and its saturday so the manager isn't there and the vault is closed but they gave me $70 in various demoninations.

Obviously I didn't think it was going to be that fruitful, but I found 1 1962 90% Dime. It kinda surprised me. Nothing else but it was enough to set me off. So I went to my bank the following monday and got $500 in halves. We found 6 40% ers. So I ordered another 2 boxes. Just picked them up today. I might be hooked.
