I just received my recent submission back from NGC. Over the last 3 years or so I have been adding on the Photovision option because....they just take better pictures than I do. I have a good track record of guessing grades on the coins on the coins that I submit. This was not the case this time, but that is a story for another time. This is part 1. Great coins and photos. I also recently did an NGC photovision order. I prefer NGC's photos over PCGS because NGC is closer to reality, whereas TrueView is a Glamour shot. However, what I HATE about paying for NGC photo service is that they delete the photos after a month, and unless you download them, no one ever gets to see them when looking up a coin. This makes absolutely no sense to me. PCGS is far superior in this regard, I can lookup and download any TrueView ever done. I own several coins where a previous owner paid for the photos, and I get the benefit. Helps in evaluating potential purchases as well. I knew this was true in the past, but I was still shocked when my 2022 order was still the same raw deal. Likewise, the "submission number" wording instead of the final grade, it just leaves an "unfinished" look on an otherwise amazing photo. I just dont understand why NGC skimps like this. Wow! You young folks (at least, some of you) know so much about coins and technology. My first computer was an Osborne One (1). When it was closed, it looked like a sewing machine. It had one drive for a 180KB floppy and a 5" monochrome monitor. My next computer was an IBM. It was only marginally better than the Osborne One (1). I enjoyed it because I learned so much about the "computer". I upgraded the memory, added another drive...both were 360KB and I put a color card in it and got a color monitor. I used it to death. Then I bought another computer that I can't remember most of what it was, but i got Lotus 1.2.3 and used that until I got my next computer. I loved dBase II database software and was able to program it to keep up with all of my projects. I was lucky to get on the ground floor of desktop computers. I now have an HP computer that isn't the best computer on the market, but I can keep up with all of my projects (coins, models, finances, and letters). I enjoyed looking at your coins. There is so much that you can do with your computer to keep up and document all you know about each coin. Thank you so much for sharing your coins and information. Nice I can only imagine the size of the slab for the 5 kopeks... I don't think even the double wide slab will fit those
The double thick ones do fit. I have a number of these and for some reason one of them is in a standard holder (I don't know how).
Yes, Yes! NGC's imaging department not only does a remarkable job in their imaging expertise, they are a fine group - within the NGC organization - to do business with: Professional and Competent. Doug and Madeline are at the top of their profession.
