Henry VIII Canterbury mint half groat
I know next to nothing about 'modern' coins and would appreciate help with this one. The reverse letters TC suggests to me that it dates to the Thomas Cranmer period 1532-1547 but the portrait is not as extreme as many I see so I suspect it is earlier in that period rather than later. Correct? Is it dated by another device? What else should I want to know about the coin? Thanks.

From the second coinage, 1526-1544. The TC does indeed stand for Archbishop Cranmer. Spink 2345, dated by them 1533-1544. A wonderfully historic coin!

This link to a site for discussion of medieval coinage (courtesy of De Orc) can be of interest when researching this coinage. (It helped me greatly when trying to attribute a penny of Edward the Confessor).

A very nice example indeed, especially the clarity of the 'Catherine wheel' mint mark.
