Hello. My name is Jeff. I am new to coin collecting. I recently found a 1995 Lincoln cent with some strange errors on it. In the 5 of the date there is a small raised dot. At the bottom of Lincoln's back there is an obvious blob of extra metal.(possible die break??) Also about 1/8in above the "B" in Liberty there is a even smaller area of extra metal. The back of the coin is normal, accept for the whole coin also appears to be losing its color. I have yet to find out anything about this accept a possible die break. I attached a photo for anyone who can help. Thank you.

The picture is too small to see anything, at least for me.
These guys turned me on to photobucket. If you don't have an account, sign up for free and you can post bigger pics.

Oh, and by the way, welcome to cointalk!

Hey thanks. Photobucket is a great site. Hopefully this picture is better. I also noticed that there is a gap in the last "9" in 1995.

Well I think the one north is a die chip, and the one south is a interior die break. The one on the five is a die chip

My opinion is they are bubbles in the plating.

    Any value in this coin?

That's my opinion too. Very common since they went to the copper-plated zinc cents in 1982.

No added value, it is just hidden corrosion. Die chips, especially in some areas have a bit of added value.

Sorry but it simply corrosion under the plating. It is very common on copper-plated zinc cents. It has no value.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Now that I examined the coin more, I do agree with foundinrolls.

That's a pretty clear and unmistakable example of corrosion and it's effects on Zincolns. Keep looking.

The round one, North of "Liberty", looks like a hardness point, to test the die. May not. ??? :)-O)
