Improperly Annealed Planchet Error?

    Its how the two medals were sandwiched together...what most do not understand is coining money is pretty much like stamping out washers . Other than proofs... most are just spit out of a machine. Depending on the vendor whom the mint purchases their blanks from ..... and Im sure the mint has some quality assurance or standard...the sandwiching of the 2 medals could be that the copper is dead center,or off center more towards either side of the coin.
    I do know that the mint does try and source out to different vendors at times to supply a mint near by...

    Tossed back in the wild. Soaked in water for a bit and it lightened up a bit. I also didn't notice any grain on the quarter.

    It was heated after it left the mint.
    Here is a dime that was subjected to high heat.
