At what point does damage to an uncirculated coin cause it to fall out of Mint State grading? I'd call this MS60- Detail and VF30 net for extensive damage to the surfaces.
That is NOT damage! It's the planchet and if I am not mistaken, it's what's referred to as a "woody".
I edited my post, as I my inner 12 year old got the best of me...I forgot that there are YN that frequent this board... -LTB
My name in lights,, finally, as it should be. I like the coin, I like earthy browns for a number of reasons,,, $ cheaper (I can spend $3-4k and get the entire 09 to 20 or 20 to 1930 decade in MS'ish instead of paying the same for a couple coins in red MS , they match up easier in a set , no worries about spotting in a holder , and imo they sell easier and are easier to make $ on the sell...... Looks like this one is in a holder already... and I'm gonna say it's an honest woody,, or someone decided to give it a tar bath before sending in to a TPG, which doesn't make sense to me. Some nice tone shades in there.... which I also like in a woody. I'll say MS65 BN.. NGC. You are have better picture taking capability than me too..... Chime in folks,,, I'll include the results in the other thread.
Clearly a woody! Not the best pic/scan... maybe some interesting color on Abe's forehead unless that's digital noise from playing with the levels of the image.
Thad, you are a devious person. Now if Bahabully gets close, he can't claim to be the "ignerent collecter" he has been doing any longer.
I would say mid to high MS. hard to pin it down being a darker coin and from pics. I'll bet it looks great in hand.
I'll always be an ingnoant collector.... have been for a long time, since, well, I saw star wars in the theater,,,, anyway, hope to be one for a long time to come too. to prove it,,, what the heck is DGS ? that some 3rd tier TPG?
