Just received this offering from the White House today. I bought a medal from them a few years ago, and as they are somewhat limited, it has gone up in value. By the time this medal is released, June 2022, I wonder how the map on the reverse will have changed with all the negotiations going on. Might be an interesting historical conversation piece. Don't know if I'll buy one, it's a little expensive. https://www.whitehousegiftshop.com/President-Volodymyr-Zelenskyy-Commemorative-Coin-p/ukraine.htm
It struck me as odd that the White House would be issuing a Ukraine-related medal. After a little digging it turns out that "The White House Gift Shop" is a privately owned business headquartered in Lilitz, PA and is not affiliated with the actual White House or the government of the United States. Interesting marketing, though.
On their web site it says: Missions of The White House Gift Shop, Est. 1946 Your Sole Source for United States Patent & Trademark Protected White House Gift Shop Gifts, Collectibles, and Products for 75+ Years. Established by Permanent Memorandum of President Harry S. Truman, Members of U.S. Secret Service, and Granted Primary & Exclusive Trademark Protections by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. President, White House, Diplomatic, U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division & Military Gifts for 70 Years During all Administrations Since 1946! Located in the White House for Nearly 70 Years, WHGS is Now Permanently Endowed with Exclusive Trademark Protections Granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office You would sure think they are official, even though they call medals, coins.
Just nice silver without the clown colors and I would buy several. I have been strongly affected in a positive way about Ukraine and it's people while watching TV, not because of politics, but of their faith, strength, and courage ! Most of my donations have been to World Central Kitchens-Ukraine through Paypal with no transaction charge. I received a tax donation receipt almost immediately from WCK. Jim
